Francis Schaeffer and the Shaping of Evangelical America is unavailable, but you can change that!

Francis Schaeffer was probably the single greatest intellectual influence on young evangelicals of the 1960s and 1970s. He was cultural critic, popular mentor, political activist, Christian apologist, founder of L’Abri, author of over 20 books, and creator of two important films. It’s impossible to understand the intellectual world of contemporary evangelicalism apart from Francis Schaeffer. ...

for their deep compassion for all kinds of people and their tireless efforts at L’Abri, Francis had a rough exterior and was prone at times to coarse behavior and a violent temper. Moreover, he seemed to suffer from a kind of speech dyslexia that led to chronic mispronunciation of basic words. He frequently mispronounced “galaxy” as “galacacy,” and one time at L’Abri gave an entire sermon on the “Jews and the Genitals.” There can be no doubt, however, that Francis Schaeffer was gifted intellectually.
